But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Since we planned to drive out Picacho Avenue today, we decided to stop for lunch at Enrique's. Service was prompt and our food was delivered quickly. My wife had the taco dinner and I had the Carne Asada dinner. Both dinners came with refried beans and rice. My Carne Asada was very tasty. We will return again.

We've been going here since 2009 and have never had a bad meal. Its a great local neighborhood Restaurant. The Pica de Gallo is made here so some days it may be milder than others but always tasty. In my opinion they have the best cheese enchiladas around. Most weekends you'll see locals come in with their own container for Menudo. The place is small and not fancy the whole menu is listed on the wall behind the counter; and the staff/owners are very friendly and muy buena comida (very good food).

Amazing salsa. So fresh you can taste the cilantro like it just came out of the garden. The chip is normal but the home made flour tortillas was made to perfect. The only weak point is the chili relleno. They stuffed it with yellow cheese and the seed were still there. The Carne asada enchiladas are juicy not stringy at all. The best item was the chorizo egg burrito for 4 buck. It was not greasy the sauce was just the right proportion to the meat was just right. I ride the off menu menudo since it was on every table. I like it but not a fan. It remind me of the filipino trip concoction. It's good but an acquired taste.

Food. It's what makes home...well...HOME! This is what I love about Las Cruces, there is always a "hole in the wall" to try and I'm glad I tried this one. I took my niece and nephews to eat here and I was a bit apprehensive about it. I mean, trying to find a place where a 3 yr old, 8 yr old and a 12 yr old will eat without complaining...well, that's a chore in itself! My 3 yr old nephew ordered a bean burrito with no cheese (per his request) for him and Spiderman and Ironman. (You try getting a kid to leave his Christmas presents at home!) My 8 yr old niece ordered the nachos off the a la carte menu and for $3.50, she got a plate full of nachos covered in melty cheese, refried beans, sour cream and guac! Yes, I said $3.50! My oldest nephew had the gordita plate and I'm pretty sure he liked it since he was silent and when he came up to talk...it was gone! I had the flautas. We were all happy and really enjoyed our meal. The waitress was extremely friendly and attentive (not overly). I can't wait to go back on a weekend and try their menudo, which I hear is pretty amazing!

Enrique's is one of the best kept secrets in Las Cruces. It is very popular with the local neighborhood where it is located. Many people in the neighborhood eat there every day. I have been frequenting Enrique's for roughly 10 years and I can tell you that this is some of the best Mexican food in town. I have had their red enchiladas, rellenos, and burritos. And they were all very tasty. Their prices are also very reasonable.As of the writing of this review (04/2012), their hand held burrito, homemade salsa and chips come to under $3.00. Easily, the best deal in town. If you like your chile hot, they've got it! Especially the salsa, so be cautious if attempting. :)
